Not only on Sundays

P

astoral care and prayer has been the aim of a group that has been meeting in the Dorrator Road vestry since 2002.  Over recent months it has been meeting Johannes on Wednesday mornings and concentrating on looking at various aspects of scripture and the meaning of prayer.  The members of the group have also helped Johannes and others organise two lunchtime services aimed specifically at members of the congregation who are unable to attend Sunday worship.  These successful events have taken the form of a short service followed by an enjoyable lunch.

The Group has been giving a great deal of thought to how it should expand and move forward and has come to the conclusion that by continuing to meet during the day it may have been excluding many members from its activities. In order to rectify this it has decided that after Easter it will meet in Dorrator Road on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6.30 for a short act of Devotion consisting of the study of scripture and prayer.  By having its meeting early in the evening the Group’s activities will be open to all and participants will be able to go on to other activities after devotions.

It is the intention to organise further “Worship and Lunch” services approximately every six weeks commencing at 11.30 a.m.   The next “Worship and Lunch service will be held on Wednesday 30th  March and dates of the full programme of services will be made available then.  While these services are primarily aimed at those who are unable to attend Sunday worship they are open to all.  Every effort will be made to provide transport for those who need it and the Group would be grateful to anyone who would like to help provide this.

Anyone who would like to join in, or learn more of the Group and its activities should either come along to a meeting or ask Johannes about it.  You will be very welcome!
