Married with four, now adult children, and originally from Dundee. After a previous career in Local Authority he was accepted as a candidate for the Ministry within the Church of Scotland and studied at St Andrews University and after completing his probation Stuart answered the call from Camelon St. John's and was ordained as the minister St Valentine's Day 2001. Soon after Camelon Irving’s minister moved on and the two churches were united into one new congregation (Camelon Parish Church) and Stuart became the minister of the new congregation.
Hi, I’m Amanda MacQuarrie and I’ve been one of the Ministers here at Camelon Parish Church since being ordained in December 2014.
So what can I tell you about myself?
Well, as well as being a Minister I’m Mum to my 4 children; Grace, Donald, Finlay and Duncan, and so in my very limited spare time I like to ….. rest!
I was born in Glasgow but moved to Denny with my folks when I was 8 and went to Denny Primary and High School. After school despite feeling a call to ministry I decided instead to train as a teacher and moved to Fife where I taught Religious and Moral Education for a number of years before taking some time out to have a family.
In 2008 I moved from Fife to the Western Isles with my young family, to the tiny island of Barra – population 1200, and a very beautiful place to live and bring up a family. But while there I felt a very strong sense of call to explore Ministry. I did, and began training and the rest as they say is history and somehow along the way, much to my surprise we ended up back in the Falkirk area after a 20 year absence!
