January 2010

Everyone at FUNPLUS would like to wish anyone reading our page a Happy New Year!

Art 'n' Craft

In November we held a mega arts 'n' craft night at youth club and were joined by our friends from Tayavalla: An Action For Children service where many of our young people receive short breaks. We had a hall full of glitter, sparkly papers, sequins, paint and glue to name but a few of the materials used. Everyone had a great time producing a Christmas card. At the end of the evening 4 individual cards were chosen to go off to the printers to become one card. This design was then sent out to family and friends as the card from Tayavalla. Even now we are still finding glitter but a great time was had by all.

Car Boot Sale

On Saturday 5th December we held an indoor car boot sale in the church hall to raise funds towards our Christmas activities. We made £210 profit and a good time was had by those who took part.

Christmas Activities

When our young people were asked what they would like at youth club for a Christmas activity, we had requests for a Christmas disco and a Christmas party so we decided to have both (well it is only Christmas once a year!).

Firstly came our Christmas disco on the 16th December when everyone appeared to have a good time. We also enjoyed a lovely buffet.

Unfortunately due to the snow we had to cancel our Christmas party planned for the 21st December but instead decided to have a New Years party on 6th January.

New Years Party

At our New Years party we made resolutions for the year ahead and played games. To eat, we enjoyed stovies, shortbread and Irn Bru. We rounded off the evening by singing Auld Lang Syne or should I say 'trying' to sing as it wasn't the best part of our party. We also said farewell to 5 members who have now moved on from youth club due to their age. We wish them well in the future.

Youth Club Availabilty

Due to some young people moving on we have a few spaces within our youth club. If you know of anyone who may be interested in attending, please pass on our phone number (01324 871821). We would also welcome people interested in volunteering and again ask you to please pass on our number.
